Rowena Martinich

Generally speaking I'm not sure about the flouro trend that has gripped Melbourne since the start of the year but when I was at Furnitex a couple of weekends ago, I think I turned a corner. I fell head over heels for a fantastic mural by artist Rowena Martinich who was exhibiting at Design Made Trade. I'd love to commission her to paint a mural on a courtyard wall of a very white, boxy modern building. The contrast would make your heart sing..!

Cheery Kitchen

I live in an old house with an old kitchen which is generally fine (but sometimes frustrating being a designer on a tight budget)... BUT I think I might be headed for a new splashback after seeing this cheery yellow one on a blog recently (sorry cant remember which one!). The new tiles give this old kitchen an instant lift!

Great Globes of Glory

Design*Sponge

Anyone who is a fan of Miriam Margolyes will pick the 'Great Globes of Glory' reference but when I saw this image on Design*Sponge recently, that phrase sprang to mind. I just love globes and have two of them myself - one geographical (blue & green) and one political (brown & other colours). I have noticed a bit of a trend towards re-purposing the humble globe lately - particularly as light fittings - which I love.
