Lombard & Jack

Senoritas Mexican Restaurant -  Lombard & Jack
Currently doing a short stint with the awesome team at Lombard & Jack design studio so work for RBID is a little sporadic at the moment. Will let you know when I'm back at the helm full-time - in the meantime, here are some images of L&J's work...

Splashback Make-over

Sometimes a room can be made over with a very simple update.

A while ago a friend invited me over for coffee and we ended up talking about her kitchen.  They had installed it a few years ago when they had a very tight budget to adhere to and she confessed she wasn't that happy with it and had always hated the tiles.  I suggested she could give the kitchen a facelift by simply replacing the splashback tiles.  We talked through a few options for her very long wall and I showed her some beautiful relief tiles from Urban Edge Ceramics - when she cooed "Oh I looove those tiles" I knew we had found the right material!

The result is a very subtle 'tone on tone' colour palette which gives the kitchen a muted contemporary look.  And my friend still texts me occasionally to let me know she still 'loves the tiles'.

Study in Progress

A few pics of a study currently being installed on one of my jobs.

The client has a great collection of antique furniture pieces so we decided a dark custom designed and made wall unit would be the ideal back drop for their many varied timber pieces, not to mention books and curios from their travels.

Just need the joiner to finish off the skirting and paint it dark and to get the right timber desk for the room!

Cut From a Different Cloth

BEFORE - The blue vinyl had to go!
It's amazing what a new coat of paint can do for an old house.  Likewise, a fresh fabric used to re-upholster an older piece of furniture can absolutely rejuvenate it.  Take these two quaint armchairs for example.  My client had seen them at an op-shop and despite the horrendous blue vinyl and missing buttons, at $30 each he couldn't pass them up.  He brought them to me and I thought their rustic charm and informal style would be complimented beautifully using a patterned fabric in an organic patterned fabric.  Sydney based Cloth Fabrics seemed a perfect fit.  To keep costs down we upholstered the back of the chairs in a textured plain fabric from Warwick Fabrics in a dark charcoal colour.  Voila! These two chairs are now an inviting feature of his living room and completely unique - not to mention a lot more comfortable than before!
AFTER - Two beautiful new armchairs awaiting delivery
