Dulux Colour Awards 2015

I'm absolutely thrilled that my Robb Street House is a finalist in the 2015 Dulux Colour Awards in the category Single Residential Exterior. The awards are open to all professionals and are divided into several categories. RBID is in some very esteemed company!

Award Winner

I was thrilled to hear that the Inverloch House won a HIA Award this week (entered by building designers Beaumont Concepts).

RBID was responsible for the interior design and was also instrumental in the overall look of the house selecting render & cladding colours, the chartreuse entry colour, the external stonework and the aluminium louvres which add an architectural element to the facade whilst controlling light and privacy within. The clients were fantastic to work with and were thrilled with the result - you can read their testimonial here.

Everything Old is New Again

Just uploaded a few new photos to my online folio on Houzz - In particular this beautiful Edwardian/Californian Bungalow for which I re-worked the external colours earlier this year. I was keen to give the clients a colour scheme that was contemporary yet referenced what would be appropriate to the Heritage of the house.

What a gorgeous old house - and it looks even grander now with the new colours (if I do say so myself)!

This is a fabulous external colour scheme I worked on last year where the client was brave enough to go with the bold blue colour I suggested for the front door. You can see more pics from this project on my Houzz folio. 

Inverloch Project

Last week I took a day trip to Inverloch to see a completed project. It was a wet & wild day and took over 2 hours in each direction so I was thoroughly exhausted by the time I got home, but it was well worth it to catch up with the lovely clients and see their beautiful beach home complete. My photos aren't amazing - it was a pretty overcast day - but the exterior images turned out really well. Interior images in a post to follow...

One of the projects I have been working on this year is finally finished and now on the market. This is the first of two townhouses on Alma Street, Aberfeldie designed by Instyle Drafting & Design and styled on the original Californian Bungalows prevalent in the area.

RBID specified the external colour scheme including selection of roof tiles, brickwork, garage door & front entry door. Inside, I was responsible for the layout design of all areas, finishes & materials selections, bathroom fixtures, kitchen appliances, and feature light fittings (furniture by another company). I was keen to design an interior that was sympathetic to the exterior yet had a slightly more edgy, contemporary feel. Feel free to visit one of the open for inspections as listed on the website.

Haymes 2013 Colour Forecast

Last week I was lucky enough to be invited to the Haymes 2013 Colour Forecast Launch. Its always an interesting and inspiring evening and I have been to the last four or so. This year the guest speaker was Debbie Ryan from McBride Charles Ryan who is a great presenter. She is effervescent about her love of colour in architecture, interior design and life in general.

Haymes forecasted four themes for 2013:
U Emerge - Autumnal & Metallic Shades
The Way U Were - Chalky Pastels
U R Artiste - Brights
U in the Universe - Blues

They also released 12 new colours - the 'Next Generation' palette:

It was interesting to see blues feature heavily in the 'Universe' forecast. Blues have typically been banished to the realms of healthcare and educational interiors for the past decade or two. My favourite colours from the evening were Autumn Leaf, Diversity, Spruce Grove, Copen Blue, Amazon, Copper, Enigma, Patina & Intuition.

One of the things I love about Haymes is that they truly are an Australian company and a family company. I look forward to specifying some of the new colours on up and coming projects!

Designex - Vibrant Bricks

CSR had a large stand at Designex this year with a range of products on display. I love the latest ranges of coloured glazed bricks available from several brick companies including PGH bricks 'Vibrant' range. I think my favourite is the Wasabi or maybe Rhapsody.

External Colour Scheme

Spent the weekend at the beach house but managed to whip up this external colour scheme for a dual occupancy in the Northern suburbs. Fingers crossed council like it as much as we do.
